Job at DeWi is to run the Grant Pro­gram. Help fund com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers that have ideas to help secure the net­work, increas­ing adop­tion, and build­ing applications.

Met with the May­or, plans on deploy­ing a hotspot on his house. May­or is real­ly into tech and wants to be known as a smart city.
Ear­ly talks, plans on peo­ple or traf­fic track­ing, work­ing with infra­struc­ture. Poten­tial­ly 5G.
A good way to sell it is with Smart Meters, Garbage Col­lec­tion, things to help make the city’s job easier.

Is it open source, can it be repli­cat­ed and be used in oth­er places.

We would like to see a cat­a­log or spread­sheet of sen­sors and what they do.
Yes. A list will be help­ful with sen­sors with cer­ti­fied Heli­um approval.

There is no age lim­it. We encour­age it. If they want to set up a cou­ple sen­sors or devel­op­ment kits they are wel­come to apply.

DeWi does­n’t give funds for min­ers. But, Devel­op­ment Time, Sen­sors, oth­er hardware.

DeWi likes 12 month projects. If it’s a large project we would break it into sep­a­rate grants with dif­fer­ent phases.

DeWi would like to fund Edu­ca­tion Pro­gram Open to the Public.

Val­ida­tors are writ­ten in Erlang. Rust would be a com­mu­ni­ty booster.

Par­ley Labs had a project for wild fire sens­ing
Huge project. Can be bro­ken down into small­er projects with local Fire Depart­ments.
With Cal­Fire’s per­mis­sion you can prob­a­bly used a tow­er or some struc­ture with pow­er.
